An intervention project in which I was assigned a building surrounded by empty areas of sparse foliage in a battered condition. The intervention came about from research into guerilla gardening and specifically Liz Christy’s ‘Green Guerillas’, formed in 1973. They had used ‘seed bombs’ to rejuvenate empty lots. I took a similar approach making my own seed bombs with biodegradable balloons, containing compost, water, fertilizer and blue cornflower seeds. These ‘bombs’ were hung around the building at first bringing colour to the area but as the balloons perished, the seeds were planted and grew into bright blue flowers in three months later revealing the secondary phase of the intervention.
